![]() Pastor Denise Harris Denise Alison Dodson Harris was born in Georgetown Guyana to Pearly Pompey Dodson and Alan Dodson as the third of fourteen (14) children. She attended the Ascension Lutheran Primary, received secondary education from Mount Marth and the North Ruimveldt Multilateral School where she secured passes at the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) now known as (CSEC). Denise has fond memories of the Multilateral School since this is where she met Christ and her husband. She was a regular attendee of the School’s Bible Club and it was at one such session in May of 1981 that she made the decision to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. After making this monumental decision, she spent most of her days involved in church activities for the Central Assembly of God Church where she became a member in December of 1981. In 1984, 'Pastor D' as she is fondly called by parishioners; was one of thirty persons who were selected to transfer from Central Assembly to the East Ruimveldt area. This was to foster a vision that the Senior Pastor, Reverend John Oswald Smith had. This group of thirty (30) was tasked with creating Covenant Groups which would meet in various homes in East Ruimveldt to share the Word of God. These group meetings eventually paved the way for the birth of the church now known as the Ruimveldt Life Improvement Centre Assembly of God. Pastor Denise has been serving as Assistant Pastor for this growing Assembly for six (6) years. As Assistant Pastor, counseling congregants and non congregants and overseeing the Arts and Youth Ministry Departments are just a few of her numerous responsibilities. Her particular area of ministry is with youths and as such, she also serves as the Youth Pastor and as Public Relations Officer for the Assemblies of God in Guyana National Y.M Department. In synchrony with her passion for teaching the word of God; she has submitted herself to training at the A.O.G Bible School and the Caribbean School of Theology (CST). She now holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theology and has every intention of securing her Masters in same. She has been married to Reverend Simon Harris (Senior Pastor of R.L.I.C) since 1988 and has four children; Jeduthun, Jasmin, Jether and Jaedon. Dinise is an excellent Desktop Publisher/ Artist and has been the CEO of HarrisArt Productions for thirteen (13) years. In her spare time which is rare, she enjoys meeting people and reading self development books. |
