The Ruimveldt Life Improvement Centre (R.L.I.C) has taken a further step in it's effort to foster the development of the community of East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, Guyana. These strategies have assumed many forms over the years; financially, socially, spiritually and this latest step; academically. For this purpose the Text Rotation Project (TRP) was introduced. What is the TRP? This project is the innovation of Rev. Simon Harris (Senior Pastor) and was implemented to eliminate the lack of reading, studying and educational materials available to the students of the assembly and of the community of East Ruimveldt. Persons are encouraged to bring in used or new textbooks that are commonly used in schools so that students who are unable to buy textbooks will be able to borrow them once they are available. The books will be loaned to students for a period and are expected to be returned within a given time frame so that other students in the area will have an opportunity to borrow books. Students in need of this service can contact the head of the Christian Education Department (CED), Deacon Ronson Enoe with their textbook needs and relevant arrangements will be made. This project will be a great help not only to the students but also the parents who cannot afford to fulfill the invariable textbook needs of their children. In January of this year, the National Communication Network (NCN) generously contributed to this great cause by donating a number of books in different subject areas for supplementary reading. Rev. Simon Harris happily received this donation on the church’s behalf. We at R.L.I.C hope that this facility will be fully utilized by the student members and students in the community. If it is, East Ruimveldt’s academic potential will soar and reach the excellence dictated by God. by Coretta Bascom
