“And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light” – Genesis 1: 3. This is the very declaration that has been made upon the area known a ‘Back Circle’ in the community of East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, Guyana. The Army of God encamped at the Ruimveldt Life Improvement Centre: Assemblies of God, in Avocado Square, just a stone’s throw away from Back Circle, has fearlessly declared ‘Light’ against the ‘Darkness’ that has overtaken the neighboring community and has somewhat held hostage the people of that area. In preparation for ‘Impact 2009’, a three day Crusade being hosted by the Ruimveldt Life Improvement Centre: Assemblies of God in Back Circle, the church worked along with residents of the area on Saturday, 25th July, 2007 to facilitate a necessary ‘clean up campaign’ in the community. The collaboration was an extremely successful one that initiated extensive work on the clogged drains and littered parapets of the Back Circle community. Though much was achieved in the way of progress on that day, much more work is needed in the community to achieve and maintain properly functioning infrastructure.
